Mussel Boxer:
Part-Time

Area:
Our company is growing mussels and oysters from seed to market and sells straight into the
network of high-end distributors and one local supermarket. This ensures that we maintain
control of the quality of our food product for as long as possible along the cold chain
distribution. Customers need to taste the quality of Maine grown seafood when it reaches
their plate.

Role:
How the product arrives at the final destination will have a lot to do with how you do this job.
You will make sure that the bags have the tag attached, that the box is labelled correctly, has
the correct number of bags in the box and is filled with ice and closed well. The boxes are
stacked neatly and wrapped. All these things present our company as a step above others.
We care about what we do, and you will be our representative for this.

Responsibilities:
  • Working safely and respecting one another at all times
  • Checking that the machine is clean and in good working order before each day begins.
  • Follow instructions from the operations manager
  • Following the packing day order list and assisting the boxing team keep track of how
many bags are needed.
  • Helping at the end of the day to clean and tidy up.
  • You will be provided with work gloves. It is your responsibility to take them home each
day and launder them. Clean gloves must be used every day.
  • Overall attention to cleanliness and hygiene.
  • You will be given a lot of help at the beginning as there are many different things to
learn about how to perform this job well. Customers have preferences which we need
to cater to and the cold chain distribution and trucking schedules are complex. It will
get easier after a while.
  • Pack each order correctly following the packing order list.
  • Check the box labels
  • Make sure all product is iced down as soon as possible.
  • Check that the pallets have the correct orders on them before wrapping in film.
  • Once pallet is complete, put the pallet in the correct position in the walk-in cooler
before beginning the next pallet.

Job Qualifications:
  • Ability to stand and work for several hours at a time.
  • Ability to lift 10 lbs repetitively
  • Positive and helpful disposition
  • Attention to lots of details.
  • Methodical in a fast-paced environment.

Compensation:
  • $25/hour​
  • Paid time off
  • 20 hours/ week guaranteed minimum

Mussel Bagger:
Part-Time

Area:

distribution. Customers need to taste the quality of Maine grown seafood when it reaches
their plate.

Role:
This position is operating the bagging machine which weighs the product and deposits into
the bags. As a bagger you have a view over the whole packing line and have an important role
to play in efficiency of each day. We all depend on you to keep the process running smoothly
and to communicate any bottlenecks to the manager so that help can be given quickly to
ensure a steady work flow. Also, the weights need to be accurate and you are a crucial part of
our quality control.

Mussel Sorter/ Final Inspection:
Part-Time

Area:
Our company is growing mussels and oysters from seed to market and sells straight into the

distribution. Customers need to taste the quality of Maine grown seafood when it reaches
their plate.

Role:
As the last inspection of the product before it goes into the bag, this job is one of the most
important, and as such paid as well, as any other on our team. You hold the quality of our
company brand in your hands every day you work. Your skills and attention protect us all in
the market place and ensure a satisfied customer.

Responsibilities:
  • To work safely at all times and respect one another
  • To follow directions from the crew supervisor and operations manager for the plan for
the day.
  • To ask for help or support if you need it
  • To try hard to improve your skills at selecting out products following the criteria
provided to you in training. It takes practice and you will improve your performance
quite fast.
  • To understand and commit to the fact that this is a team effort and we are all done
when the order is filled and the place is clean and tidy again.
  • To take responsibility for your work gloves- you must take them home and launder
them. A clean pair must be used each day. Gloves will be provided.
  • Attention to hygiene and cleanliness of the work area.

Job Qualifications:
  • Ability to stand for working for several hours at a time
  • Good hand to eye coordination and an eye for detail.
  • Positive and helpful disposition

Compensation:
  • $25/hr
  • Paid time off
  • ​20 hours/week guaranteed minimum
